news from the fridge

ok...this is going to be one of the very seldom things that i would write about: the very recent news that strikes the GreatBritain-the xtremely cold weather.

It is really very cold here right now...although most of the time we had 'equipped' ourselves with thick wool jacket, gloves (sometimes 2 layers, soon to be 3 layers ha), boots (wool socks inside), scarf (also of wool), hat (might as well to be wool in this situation)...

ALMOST LOOK LIKE A SHEEP NOW LAR><~~and some friends around have fall sick...

Snow has hit Scotland since early December this year
(not sure about other countries), it is way too early n more regular when comparing to last year's end of January. Has global warming accelerated its pace? (can check this out: what's causing the cold weather?)

Today's news reflects on how severe the situation is affecting this country:
-more than 20 people died due to the incidents relating to weather
-dwindling salt supplies that are used to melt the snow more time-efficiently...esp for major thoroughfares and flight lanes

Here is the issue of using salt to melt snow in which this action has been 'warned' in the 1878 as published in The Times.
SNOW + SALT = a very low temperature SLOUGH
Side Effect to public health: it will 'penetrate shoeleather to such an extent that boots once saturated cannot be thoroughly dried for days, but remain cold and damp to the feet, thus causing chills and liability to rheumatism, sore throats etc...

ok...(for the second time. hehe. cause this might not be something related directly to some of u=)
Just to share this so that i can write something about science-chemistry n friends here would be aware of it n take good care;)

Another issue of the day. <3 shoes
